Assistant Bars Manager - Theatre

Job Summary

Working closely with the Venue Management team with the direct guidance of the Bars Manager, the Assistant Bars Manager will support the delivery and management with responsibility for the bar operation at an incredibly exciting live music and club venue in the heart of Camden.

Based at the venue, their working day will be focussed towards preparation for upcoming events and supporting management in delivering a wide range of beverage led events, gigs and club nights, also being responsible of ensuring an efficient workflow within an energetic and dynamic setting.

The position encompasses 10 bars across a high-volume, fast-phased music venue with the main areas of focus being ‘Staff, Stock and Events’, but the ideal candidate will also be continually looking to improve their department to suit the needs of an ever-changing industry and have a keen interest in venue management and live music.

Please note this is a full-time position with required availability for late-night and weekend work due to the nature of our business.

Role and responsibilities

Bar Operations, Stock & Events:

– Support day to day operations, contributing to consistent delivery

– Assist management in achieving the Commercial elements of all bars to ensure KPI’s and targets are achieved.

– Support the Bars Manager and Head of Beverage in driving the department to achieve their goals, also building a strong relationship with the wider operation to deliver guest service and experience on all levels

– Work closely with the stock controller on stock management processes, acrry out stock takes and manage ordering and deliveries

– Maintain wel-formed relationships with vendors and suppliers

– Liaise with third party contractors and agencies as needed, for their delivery on service level agreements

– Liaising with venue and hospitality managers when purchasing to ensure suitable products are brought in for events

– Proactively manage the inventory types to cater for a wide range of events, whilst minimising stock holding and wastage

– Maintaining brand identity and ethos at all times.

– Enforcing safety and quality control and ensuring that licensing and health and safety measures are adhered to/

Team management

– Lead and inspire a large and professional bar team across ten different bars on multiple floors.

– Be present, supportive and front-facing at peak service as a face of the business

– To support the Bars manager in all scheduling, reaching targeted wage cost and sign off time sheets in a timely manner

– Continuously monitor and control staff performance, menu and ingredient consistency

– Support recruitment, training and management of bar staff to ensure consistency, and deliver service levels and standards which exceed expectations and efficiently drive sales

– Ensure staff are fully compliant with Health & Safety regulations and adhere to licencing objectives.

– Motivating and rewarding staff, promoting engagement and retention.

About you

We’re seeking a confident and charismatic Assistant Manager who is looking to continue to develop themselves within their area and a late night music venue, with the following key attributes:

– Demonstrated success in a similar role in a high-volume licensed venue

– Comprehensive knowledge of the industry and cultural landscape of London.

– Ability to problem-solve across a broad range of reactive issues with a positive attitude

– Calm and composed working in high energy and high expectation venues

– Strong IT proficiency and experience working in a live music venue with a knack for tech and production.

– Excellent communication skills

– Commercially sharp, with strong numerical competence

– Strong organisational skills

Desirable:

– Personal Licence or BIIAB Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders

– IOSH, NEBOSH or similar health and safety training

– Level 2 Award for working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry

Salary: From £35,000.00 per year, pending experience
