Fresh off selling out the 2000 capacity Barbican, we are delighted to present the electrifying Balimaya to the intimate Ellen’s stage! Balimaya’s live performance is a powerful sight to behold, fusing the rich musical traditions of West Africa with the energy and innovation of London’s contemporary Jazz scene.

Led by Yahael Camara-Onono, the collective brings together a powerful ensemble of musicians playing traditional instruments like the kora and balafon alongside horns, percussion and rhythm section, creating a deeply rhythmic and celebratory sound which is strongly influenced by London where most of the band reside. In their own words they are inspired by ‘London’s jazz, grime and funky house sounds and how they are underpinned by African and Caribbean rhythmic influence’
