Makaya McCraven

Innovatively fusing jazz, folk and more, Chicago drummer and bandleader Makaya McCraven has proven himself a vital piece of the city’s storied jazz puzzle for nearly 20 years. Now, building on the success of his acclaimed 2022 LP ‘In These Times’, and the 10th anniversary of his groundbreaking record ‘In the Moment’, McCraven is returning with a new album on International Anthem this summer and a must-see touring show in support. With a live performance rooted in virtuosic playing and thrilling improv, McCraven is a true musician’s musician – one who, in the words of The Guardian, “balances jazz’s precious tradition and its present and future.”
