Mercury Prize-shortlisted, MOBO Award-winning drummer, composer and producer Moses Boyd today announces his long-awaited second album, Songs For Sinners, arriving October 30th via Exodus. The announcement is accompanied by new single “Criticise” feat. London-based vocalist Amber-Simone.
His first album in six years, Songs For Sinners is the record Boyd has been building towards since he first discovered music. A deeply personal body of work, it explores the push and pull of faith as something profoundly human. Across an ambitious, vocal-led collection that fuses gospel, jazz, soundsystem culture, Caribbean rhythms, 808s and soaring choir harmonies, Boyd expands the language of contemporary jazz into something entirely his own.
Already regarded as one of the UK’s most innovative musical voices, Boyd has spent the past decade redefining the possibilities of jazz. Since his breakthrough with Rye Lane Shuffle and the critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize-shortlisted Dark Matter, he’s established himself as one of British music’s most singular artists, collaborating across genres while continually pushing his own sound forward.
